One Can Only Hope!

Reading one of the Gettysburg sites about the protestors, it said that they were to use, “Family Friendly Signs.” So, the word, “Nazi” is family friendly? But living a few blocks from the Square, I don’t have to deal with it. I can take the back roads and not be bothered with it. I feel for the area businesses that have no choice but to deal with it. But because the Borough Council gave them permits to be on all four corners of the Square, ensuing violence will eventually be the outcome. It is growing in numbers and is anything, but peaceful.

But there are no Republican protests – to protest the Democratic ones. Actually, the Democrats are extremely well organized and they attend their events in droves. It makes me wonder how Trump was elected. But he was and that fact remains. He and Musk are doing a hell of a job, along with Trump’s new cabinet. The Democrats can bitch all they want. It won’t change anything. I guess Republicans know this and why we don’t bother protesting against them. We are celebrating! All of this energy the Democrats are using to protest, is simply wasted. It will not change anything. But they are absolutely allowed their right to assemble. The family friendly sign thing though, is an absolute joke. But neither the council nor the current Mayor will stop it. Which is why I wanted to run for Mayor. But I have since refused. This is not a battle I want to take on. If I had the help, I would have reconsidered. But it just is not there. Many do not want to stand up to the current administration here. Many are afraid and I get it. There is a lot of Liberal own businesses, including the Lutheran Church and the college. I think it will take a total meltdown of the economy here, for the town to be ready to listen to change. Actually, it isn’t change in itself. It is just bringing it back to its former glory.

The Gettysburg I once knew and loved is gone. A friend of mine sent me the following:

I have to admit, sad that they have ruined Gettysburg. Yesterday was the first it got to me that the hustle and bustle has gone from a beautiful town.”

Yes! It is indeed sad. Reenactors used to grace the town with their living history that made the town magical. Without them, there is no ambiance of a Civil War past, except on the battlefields. But even then, without the reenactors, it just isn’t the same as they made even the battlefields come to life.

But the reenactors left and there are only a handful that remain. It is a loss for Gettysburg. It is a huge loss of revenue for businesses as well. I am happy I was able to capture the glory days of Gettysburg in my Summer Ray book series. We are in development of the two hour full feature pilot. www.thememoirsofsummerray.com! I can only cherish the memories of a dying town that no amount of CPR could revive, as long as the Democrats remain in full leadership. It is not a fight worth battling. Perhaps someday, after the dust clears and the ashes stop smoldering, the light of a Gettysburg past will begin to flicker once more. Perhaps the Eternal Light Peace Memorial is a sign of hope as its flame is never extinguished. Perhaps there is still hope.

PEACE ETERNAL IN A NATION UNITED

Well, the nation is certainly not united, not now! Nazi signs are not family friendly either. But there is no one to lead the charge to tell them that because the current leaders are on their side. So, the division continues, the hate continues, the vile profanity continues, and the rage continues. I for one, will just drive a different direction and stay away from it. Let them. Let them to the point the town collapses in on itself because the tourists, reenactors and some of the residents no longer want to be here. Maybe then, it will be time to bring back the glory days of Gettysburg. One can only hope!
