For the first time since I was born, and on the 23rd that will be 58 years I have so far been alive on planet Earth, I started to feel like America was a foreign country. As Jason and I walked around Gettysburg, some of the looks and verbal assaults were incredibly sad. This is all because we were carrying an American flag. You know, because we live in America. From kneeling at sports games, the National Anthem, and to burning our flag, Patriotism – is almost considered a crime now a days. We are considered “racist” if we are patriotic. I honestly feel I need to go sit at George Washington’s grave and have a heart to heart talk with him. What would George do?
I want to bring to your attention something that he wrote many many years ago.
ADDRESS TO THE CONTINENTAL ARMY BEFORE THE BATTLE OF LONG ISLAND | TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1776
“The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will deliver them. The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance, or the most abject submission. We have, therefore, to resolve to conquer or die.”
Joseph Plumb Martin a Continental Soldier stated:
“Almost every one has heard of the soldiers of the Revolution being tracked by the blood of their feet on the frozen ground. This is literally true; and the thousandth part of their sufferings has not, nor ever will be told.”
“I felt a secret pride swell my heart when I saw the start-spangled banner waving majestically in the very faces on our implacable adversaries.”
Many have no idea what those soldiers suffered through, during the American Revolution, to gain our independence. Sadly, some of those same people do not care. They want a new America. My Summer Ray book and film/TV series is helping to bring history back! We kneel for the Cross and stand for the flag. We honor our military past, present and future. We will walk with our American spirit with pride. We will fight to keep America from ever falling prey to Socialism. You will see both George Washington and Joseph Plumb Martin in the series. We are currently still in development and hope to start production next year.
